Many of us could be more active in our daily lives.
Being more active can have many health benefits and make you feel better too. Finding and creating opportunities to move more and to sit less every day – at home, at work, when travelling or for recreation – can be a great try.
If you are asking yourself how, here are some ideas for you:
- Walk instead of drive, especially for short trips.
- Put away the remote control. When you watch TV, get up to change channels.
- Take the stairs instead of the lift.
- Stand up more. Find opportunities to stand – for example, when you talk on the phone or during meetings or presentations at work.
- Go for a walk at lunchtime, even if it is only for a short walk around the block.
- Write notes to remind yourself to move more and put them where you’ll see them.
